Unsilence uses FFmpeg's 2-pass palette generation algorithm (`palettegen` & `paletteuse`), which calculates a custom color palette for your specific video clip to eliminate color banding.
How do I make sure my GIF isn't rejected for being too big on LinkedIn, Twitter/X, or Discord?+
Use the "Optimize For" preset in the GIF tool and pick your platform — LinkedIn (≤400 frames, ≤5MB), Twitter/X (≤15MB), or Discord (≤8MB). Unsilence automatically lowers the frame rate to fit the limit while keeping your full clip length (no trimming), and if the file is still too large after conversion, it retries at a smaller width until it fits.
